Product Description

From the Manufacturer
The Original Mulch Block Premium Grade Coir Mulch is a 100% organic, biodegradable, renewable resource made of coir. It provides a thermal blanket for your entire garden keeping soil cool in summer, warm in winter, and moist all year round. In addition to saving water and insulating the garden, this premium ground cover looks great as a decorative top-dressing for pots and baskets. Lasts up to two years. Garden Beds and Shrubs: Apply layer of mulch to a depth of 3 inches. Position mulch around base of plants and water thoroughly. The coir mulch expands and retains moisture each time you water, saving water and minimizing runoff and evaporation. Containers and Hanging Baskets: Top-dress all containers to a depth of 2.5 inches. The water-retaining mulch reduces wasteful evaporation and harmful runoff that can deprive plants off fertilizer and precious nutrition. Combining Mulch with Garden Mix: Add 3 parts hydrated mulch to 1 part soil. For clay or sandy soil, use 5 parts mulch to 1 part soil. Mulching the Vegetable Garden: Start mulching in mid to late Spring when the soil is warmer. Placing mulch too early could keep the soil colder longer and slow plant growth. Spread mulch around the base of plants to a a depth of 3 inches. New seedlings transplanted into the garden bed should be mulched sparingly with a ground covering of 1 inch and then gradually increased to 3 inches as the seedling grows taller. Watering: Coir mulch generally needs up to 50% less water than traditional mulches. Gardeners should check the top 2-3 inches of mulch and only water if the lower level is dry.
